The Maltese Community in Canada, has had close ties with Id-Dar tal-Providenza in Siggiewi, Malta for many years. We all remember with happy and nice memories the visits of Mons Mikiel Azzopardi, Founder and Director to his death of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. The current Director, Mons Lawrence Gatt has also visited with us on numerous occasions and every time he visits, we feel it is our duty to contribute to Id-Dar, where many physically and mentally challenged and special brothers and sisters from Malta and Gozo reside and learn to integrate into the Maltese society. We all know well the help and attention that is given to our special brothers and sisters. This year, Mons Lawrence Gatt will be with us one more time between October 12 and 18. During his visit, he will be able to give us a better and clearer idea of the great work that is currently being done to totally and completely refurbish the first villa of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. Plans have already been drawn up for ten apartments. These apartments are intended to be used by a small group of residents who will be trained for eventual deeper integration into society under the supervision of a support worker. To this end, the Maltese Canadian Federation prepared for the main event, a "Charity Evening" to be held on the 14th of October. Fr Emmanuel Bugeja, who represents Id-Dar tal-Providenza in Canada, is coordinating all activities surrounding Mons Lawrence Gatt's visit and associated events. The various Maltese-Canadian Clubs that are part of the Maltese Canadian Federation, as well as the BoV and HSBC Canadian Representative Offices are cooperating in ensuring that this Fund Raiser is a success. Various other people are offering their service and help; among them are the the two established and well known Maltese photographers Joseph Camilleri and Felix Borda, as well as Wilfred L. Camilleri, CISSP who has designed and maintains this Site for Id-Dar tal-Providenza in Canada. Supporters and volunteers are listed in the Links Page.
