N.L.C.C. EXETER A Brief History of HMS Exeter The Navy League Cadets Corps program sponsored by the Ajax-Pickering Navy League is N.L.C.C. #173 Exeter. This cadets corps is for young people between the ages of 9 and 12. Any young person between the specified ages can join. Previous experience is not required. Being a Navy League cadet does not cost anything. There are no membership dues and even uniforms are supplied free of charge. Apart from teaching young people valuable skills such as leadership, First Aid, music and sailing, the Navy League program helps young people interact with others their own age from across the province. The Ajax-Pickering Branch also sponsors trips for the cadets from time of time. In the past, cadets have visited British Columbia and other provinces in Canada. Navy League Cadets meet every Tuesday between 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm. at the Company's Ship located in Ajax. Other activities are schedules from time-to-time by the officers of the Corps. These include weekend activities such as competitions and trips to other venues. Transportation to parades, competitions and other off-premises activities is normally provided by the Ajax-Pickering Navy League Branch on a bus owned and operated by the Branch.
